Let There Be Pills!

In November, Oklahoma had a lawsuit because it wanted to regulate the use of abortion-inducing pills known as RU-486. People became interested in this case through reports of the media because it violated an element of privacy that was covered in Roe v. Wade. While the government has a business making things as safe as possible through the FDA, limiting the access to RU-486 became an undue burden which was already made illegal.

Through media attention, people nation wide become aware of outlandish laws and prohibitions their state and different states have in the works. Sometimes people support these laws, sometimes they do not go over as easily with the constituents. I feel that the Supreme Court decided not to rule on the abortion decision because it is not only in seeing how the states let this issue play out, but the Supreme Court needs to have some favorability with the public. Deciding a topic like this would put the Supreme Court in a rough decision with abortion being such a hot button topic.
